Our Chapter prides itself on creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone that participates in our programs. For the past year, internally, we have had discussions with our team and Board of Directors on how to better represent the youth we serve in the Greater Baltimore area.
While our programs serve youth from a variety of racial and socio-economic backgrounds, we felt that it was important for us to formalize our stance on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and solidify our commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive environment for our students to learn and grow.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Statement
At First Tee-Greater Baltimore, we are committed to providing our students with a diverse and safe space that allows them to build character and better navigate the challenges of today’s world.
Through our programs, we strive to fulfill our core mission of building and strengthening the qualities of honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgement in the youth we serve.
We are committed to creating a diverse, inclusive and equitable environment where our students will thrive and everyone involved in our organization, including our Board of Directors, staff, coaches, students and volunteers, will be able to help bring positive change to our community.
We define diversity as differences among people, including race, culture, ethnicity, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, religion, language and experiences.
We recognize that our embracing diversity is, and has always been, one of our greatest strengths as an organization and plays an important role in the personal development of each student who participates in our programs.
Through this commitment, we believe that we all grow, expand our horizons, and make a positive impact on the world around us.
